This June, Popp & Associates will celebrate our 10 year anniversary! It is hard to believe a decade has passed since we opened our doors in 2006, subletting a Newton Center office three days a week. We didn’t have a website or any social media, but we did have wonderful clients who believed in us and our abilities to help them attain their goals.
Steve Jobs said, “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.” I could not agree more. For nearly twenty years, I have worked as a college counselor, admissions officer, teacher and in other roles advising parents and students. I knew I found the right profession when I didn’t need an alarm clock to wake up for work.
Every day, P&A brings new questions, challenges and rewards. While the college application process may feel uniform and routine, the students who engage in it are unique and ever-changing. I am grateful to all of the families who have walked through our door and trusted us, our expertise, and our commitment to helping them identify the best educational options for their students’ diverse strengths and goals.
As I reflect on the last 10 years, I think about a personal and professional journey that has offered invaluable life lessons and growth. I hope that our clients can say the same about our work together. I can’t wait to see what the next 10 years will bring.
